New Year, New You – Healthy Tips for Healthy Skin

Happy New Year! January brings a new year and a clean slate to better yourself! One of the most important things for us to take care of is our skin. Our skin is very complex and needs to be cared for to glow and look healthy. Our health is so important and if health hasn’t been a concern of yours previously, now is the perfect time to start!

It may sound cheesy and cliché, but healthy skin starts from within. Did you know that the foods you put into your body affect your skin? Well, they definitely do! One huge tip is to drink lots of water. Drinking water has so many benefits, your skin will be more clear and you will feel better all around! If you are not a huge fan of water, add in some different fruits to spice up the flavor! Hydration is key for a healthier and happier you!

Keeping your skin healthy and glowing is such a challenge, you have to be willing to put in the work. In addition to drinking lots of water, be sure to wash your makeup off with facial cleanser before going to sleep. Sleeping in your makeup clogs up pores, traps oil in, and irritates your eyes; nothing good comes of it! Finding a facial cleanser that works for you is very important as well. Everyone’s skin is different so you really have to personalize your cleansing regime to what your skin needs. Warning! Try to avoid using regular bar soap on your face. Sometimes we run out of face wash and have to improvise, but do not make a habit out of it! The pH levels in most bar soaps is so harmful for the sensitive skin on our faces.

The most important product to use on your face is moisturizer! Moisturizer is a must to have healthy skin! Moisturizer helps our skin to bring out our natural glow, prevent the formation of wrinkles and lines, and keeps our skin from drying out. Moisturizer should be used multiple times a day; after cleansing before bed and in the morning before applying makeup or just put some on to start the day off right. Another great thing to use to really treat your skin is a moisturizing mask! Or if you are trying to clear up your skin, a charcoal mask, or acne clearing mask will help draw out unwanted dirt to open up your pores!

There are so many things you can do show off your skin’s natural glow. Just remember to drink lots of water, wash your face every day and sometimes twice a day, and moisturize! Use a moisture or clearing mask once a week/ a few days a week and your skin will forever thank you! Here’s to 2018 and here’s to being a better version of ourselves as each day passes!
