It's August 25th, which means its National Banana Split Day! We’re all in, because who doesn't love dessert?! There is nothing like big scoops of ice cream with a banana, whipped cream, and a cherry on top! It’s the perfect dessert recipe for these warm months we’re in. Even if you aren’t a big fan of banana splits specifically, there's something you have a sweet tooth for. Whether it be milkshakes or popsicles you can simply make these sweets at home to enjoy!
If a homemade milkshake caught your interest, you are in luck. All you’ll need is a blender, ice cream (flavor of your choice), milk (¼ cup to be exact), and whatever flavor add-ins your heart may desire. Personal favorite, I suggest adding oreos to either vanilla or chocolate ice cream. If you want more of a fruit flavored milkshake, adding chunks of either pineapple, banana, or strawberry, is always a fresh take on a homemade milkshake.
Quick and easy to enjoy, quick and easy to create, popsicles are always an easy go to. First you’ll need a mold, whether it be a popsicle mold you’ve already invested in, yogurt containers, or even a muffin tin, this is what you’ll pour your liquid into. Fruit juices are always the go-to option for popsicles whether it be orange or grape juice. If you prefer something different, yogurt is always an option. For a pleasing aesthetic look in your popsicles you can add small pieces of fruit into the juice/yogurt before freezing. Don’t forget to stick the popsicle sticks in! Once frozen, enjoy!
